Atal Pension Yojana (APY) Calculator FAQs

Our online APY calculator helps you estimate the pension you'll receive after age 60. Atal Pension Yojana is a government-backed scheme designed to provide financial security to workers in the unorganized sector in India.

APY is a government-backed pension scheme in India primarily targeted at the unorganized sector. It provides a guaranteed minimum monthly pension ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 after the age of 60, based on your contributions.
Any Indian citizen between the ages of 18 and 40 with a valid bank account can join. However, as per recent rules, individuals who are income taxpayers are not eligible to join the scheme.
The monthly contribution depends on your age at entry and the pension amount you choose. The earlier you start (e.g., at age 18), the lower your monthly contribution will be for the same pension amount.
The government originally co-contributed 50% of the total contribution (up to ₹1,000 per year) for a specific period for eligible members. While that specific window has closed for new users, the primary benefit remains the sovereign guarantee of the pension amount.
Voluntary exit before age 60 is allowed, but you will only receive your own contributions plus the interest earned. The government co-contribution and its interest will not be paid out in case of voluntary premature exit.
In case of the subscriber's death, the spouse can continue the account until the original subscriber would have turned 60. Alternatively, the spouse/nominee will receive the accumulated corpus.
